Viable Energy / Energía Viable

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

I am not sure that global warming is a product of human activity, but the difference between acting now and keeping the same path seems to be a matter of life for millions of people beyond three to five decades.

The claim of Steorn in connection with their device will come down soon as a hoax or a scam if they don’t take actions in order to demonstrate the world the validity of their experiment. Yesterday’s afternoon (here in Mexico), the CEO of Steorn was interviewed in a Dublin radio station TodayFM, fortunately I could listen it in whole and he did not revealed a lot but he seemed quite sure about his words.

If this device is for real, the Earth needs it urgently, that means now. All of us deserve a better world, but as soon as I write this words I start thinking that this will not get to a happy ending, eventhough if it’s true.

What it’s important after all, is that we are disscussing the energy theme and right now we have the oportunity to change and give a second chance to renewable fuels: Biodiesel, Ethanol or Hydrogen as well as electric powered automoviles.

Why automoviles first? Because it would be easier to start with those than converting electric plants from using hydrocarbons to other fuels, at least in our third world countries.

The time to make the difference is today.

Free energy?

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

As I am a perfect ignorant, most of the time I expect people to prove their words; and as I am not a scientist, I am not able to refuse much of such information.

It’s clear that our world needs clean energy sources, but as long as there’s “no free lunch”, talking about free energy sounds more lika a “waco” stuff that something to believe in.

One of the greatest minds in our world was Nikola Tesla, who supposedly make an old car work with an electric motor with no power source other than a large antenna wired to a black fuse box.

Unfortunately, Tesla’s discovery wasn’t proved by third parties, but now, just a couple of days ago, a company in Dublin Ireland is challenging the scientific world to prove them wrong.

Steorn discovery is related with the use of magnetic fields in order to use them as power sources for almost everything from a cellphone battery to whatever you name.

Rudoplh Diesel, the inventor of the Diesel Engine, get on board of a ship while his invention run with a mixture of vegetable oil. He died in the ship and his engine was unveiled later to the public running hydrocarbon “Diesel”.

In this new era, such a discovery, if true, will shake our social structure, and I hope Steorn crew have a nice trip and keep safe in orther to disembark the way Rudolph Diesel couldn’t.

The meaning of democracy

Monday, August 7th, 2006

Yesterday while coming back to Mexico, the airplane tumbled three times, and it dit it strong enough to make some people shout and the pilot ask his crew to return immediately to their seats and do not stand up until we landed.

It seems like our country is shaking other structures as well as the yesterday’s plane. Unfortunately, Mexico’s democracy is shaking because of the tiranny of the minorities. Our democracy is only focusing in the legality and legitimacy of elections, and the politicians have abused of the ignorance in order to proclaim their victory. The tiranny of the minority seems to have no end. None of the three political parties have a real majority, even more, the people that did not voted in our past election are as much as those who voted for the two political parties with more votes together.

It’s a shame that our country and our city, is living this situation where the posibilities and choices are less, not only in connection with political parties but with sore day to day decissions like which street am I gonna drive?

Victoria, the capital of the Beutiful (a well deserved adjective) British Columbia is a city where democracy is not a flag for politicians but a way of life. I am not sure if someone overthere will read this but I am positive amazed for what I saw. In this beautiful city you can use Toyota Prius as taxi cabs (hybrids) or even arrive to the city in a ship powered by biodiesel. Long live Victoria!

For all of our third world leaders a simple question: when are you going to realize that democracy is not being the dictator of o piece of land but a way of life in which making choices is the best way to have a better life? when we, the people are going to understand this and fight for it? When are we going to understand the meaning of democracy?

Otro cuento corto

Monday, August 7th, 2006
